Spinosaurus Encounter and Dinosaur Program

The Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburg will bring a life-size Spinosaurus to the Library, along with table top dinosaur activities. The beginning of the program will feature an introduction to "Spiny" and a little bit about what his life was like during the Cretaceous Period and then a chance for pictures with Spiny. There will also be 2 or 3 tabletop dinosaur activities for patrons to try:
"Tooth or Claw....or, Something Else"-- selection of replica teeth, claws and other fossilized dinosaur parts to examine--try to guess whether the part is a tooth, claw, or something else. This table will have dinosaur coprolites.
How do you "stack up"? -- participants compare how their size matches up with a Diplodocus, using the femur bone of the dinosaur.
Fossil Match-- match the "original object" (leaves, shell, animal parts, etc.) with the fossil it created.

Kids will also have opportunities to make a craft
