SUMMARY:December First Friday - TOPIC: Proposed DOL Changes
DESCRIPTION:Preparing for More Overtime Pay Liability\n\nThe U.S. Department of Labor has proposed regulations that would drastically increase the number of workers entitled to overtime pay. The DOL proposes to change the salary threshold for overtime pay exemptions from $455 per week ($23\,660 per year) to the 40th percentile of weekly earnings for full-time salaried workers ($921 per week\, or $47\,892 annually)\, which would be adjusted yearly. It has been estimated that this change could make more than 21 million workers eligible for overtime. These proposed regulations are expected to be issued in 2016. Labor and Employment attorney David Riepenhoff will be on hand to answer your questions\, review these proposed rules and discuss what companies can do now to protect themselves from overtime pay liability.
